A Wrinkle In Cosmetics shows how I use the results of a research

within a search for the question of how I as a designer can contribute to making the consequences of the use of cosmetic products transparant with the focus on the effects on the human body and health.

The design project reflects on the cosmetic industry and their use of controversial ingredients. Research shows that remnants of cosmetic ingredients are already ending up in the umbilical cord blood. This means that cosmetic substances do enter our body, while some cosmetic ingredients are connected to serious negative effects, for example skin irritation or accelerated skin aging. Research results even connected the ingredients aluminium and paraben to breast cancer. But still this new information is not directly translated into a stricter policy.

As a consumer, you actually do not know whether a cosmetic product is safe or not.

A Wrinkle In Cosmetics is a future cosmetic database proposal to offer 

transparency and information about the ingredients and their possible consequences.
